The Pawn by Skye Warren Book Review
Rated: 3* out of 5*
So I downloaded this book based on a recommendation from a friend. I wasn't particularly excited based on the cover and I know, I know, you aren't supposed to base a book off its cover but I do. I am vain and I am ok with that.
This is book 1 of a series and there are I believe 4 with a spin off too. Anywho, so the book is about a young lady named Avery who's family had fallen from graces and lost all their money and status. Her dad was a fraud and paid dearly, so she has to swoop in from college and take care of her bed ridden Dad and somehow support them. Well, they lost everything, I mean she even lost her fiancé' over all of this. So here she is all alone in their empty mansion and she is playing nurse for her dad. The mom died years ago and she is an only child so the sole responsibility lies on her.
Well, what would any goodie tushes do in this situation...... Well she decides that hitting up the seediest spot in town to get a loan from a loan shark is a good idea.... She's a sheltered idiot...
She decides that the only value that she has is her virginity. Well, que in all the dirty old men and of course one broody, sexy, beefy, dangerous man names Gabriel.
Well, she goes through with the auction and of course someone bids and bids well. I might should add that it isn't just one night in bliss with her, she sold her body for a full 30 days!! No going back now honey.
We watch as she juggles her desires and how her past has skewed her outlook on sex. Of course there is drama with her dad as she tries to support him and keep what she's doing a secret. A lot happens that I cant say without giving away who bid on her and how that affects her. But, you can imagine that with mo money comes mo problems!
I rated this book a 3, it kept me intrigued and it was a quick and easy read. I jumped into book 2 which I will review next. If you are looking for an entertaining book for the day then this is a safe pick, not my favorite but I didn't hate it.
