Crow ( Boston Underworld Book 1) A. Zavarelli Book Review
4 out of 5*s : I had read a ton of great reviews for this book on Goodreads.com and decided to give it a go, I love the dark mafia style so it was right up my alley.
I rated this with 4 stars, I liked the book and intend on reading the rest of the series. I didn't rate it 5 because I had a hard time loving Mac. Mac is the female lead in the book and she sets out to find her missing best friend. This ends up taking her to the dark underworld of the Irish Mafia as they are the employers of her missing friend.
She assumes since her friend was hanging out seeding people that they must have something to do with her disappearance. Mac has been to the cops and feels as if she has exhausted all her resources so she takes matters into her own hands.
So here she is working at a strip club where the Irish own it and the Russian syndicate frequent. I have a hard time liking her as her decision making is stupid. She comes off as a real badass but its not believeable to me.
I do love Lachlan, he is every bit of Irish grit and is ruthless. Lachlan runs his synidicate and through crazy circumstances ends up hiring Mac to work at his strip club. Unbeknownst him that she is doing this to uncover information on her missing bestfriend.
They have good chemistry and you end uprooting for them. I like Lach and I like that he can bring Mac's walls down somewhat. The decisions she makes also put Lach at risk and I hated that.
But, like I always say, if the characters can bring that kind of emotion out of you when reading then you know you've picked a good book.
I recommend this book to readers who like the mafia driven style books and who like a strong male lead. It's a good book and rather long but it didn't slow me down!
